I tried to export the image with the exact coordinates (when you set DPI, qgis also adapts coordinates accordingly) and then to resize the output image to the wanted resolution, 16kx8k in my case. I think I followed the steps described here, but - to me - it seems the tiles generated with qgis and by following what has been suggested by J-ROME do not perfectly match FlightGear scenery. Moreover, tiles produced the way described here do not really match the coordinates you enter when exporting an image, and this produces a wrong rendering when you fly from one tile to the next one.
